A festival in times of Covid-19
A regular IDFA receives more than 300,000 visits in more than 15 locations in Amsterdam every year. Throughout the year, a program with prize winners tours the country, which is enjoyed by approximately 30,000 people every year. The festival also hosts more than 3,000 professionals from all over the world every year and school performances are attended by nearly 50,000 students. IDFA 2020 had a different structure due to Covid-19 and was of a hybrid design. The films were screened in front of 30 spectators in theaters - both in Amsterdam and across the country - and a large number of the selected films were also shown online. Despite all its limitations, IDFA has reinvented itself and shown tremendous resilience. No fewer than 190,000 people visited IDFA 2020.
