Foreword

Welcome to the Online IDFAcademy 2021! We are proud to welcome you all—emerging directors and producers, who have been selected for this year’s online IDFAcademy. Although you will follow the program from homes across the world, our aim is that you will get to know each other, feel connected, and have a fruitfull exchange of experiences. Our online program is a continuation of our commitment to inspire, connect and help you move forward with your projects and careers, also in these pandemic times. We are grateful for our dedicated two Group Tutors, acclaimed producers Bianca Oana and Gema Juárez Allen, who will take you under their wings. The program presents a variety of inspirational speakers, and we are happy with the enthusiastic participation from all industry representatives who are taking the time to share their expertise with us. The Press & Industry Library forms a substantial part of the offer we bring to you. A valuable source of the most wonderful films IDFA 2021 has to offer and also recordings of a selection of the talks that take place in Amsterdam, some of which are highlighted in this guide. IDFA's Opening Film Four Journeys and the talk with emerging director Louis Hothothot, the opening session of the IDFAcademy Program in Amsterdam on the 18th of November, is one we included proudly on your first day. This IDFAcademy Program Guide includes the full program, background information, and, last but not least, an introduction to each one of you. We hope this guide will help you navigate this year's IDFAcademy, and please be reminded that you can rely on the daily guidance of the IDFAcademy staff. Have a great festival and an inspiring IDFAcademy! Meike Statema Head of Talent Development IDFA
