Throughout the year, the Fund is in contact with various organizations to exchange information and knowledge about documentary films, filmmakers, organizations, and networks. These include the Whickers in the UK, DocA and Docubox in Kenya, Sundance Institute Documentary Film Program in the US, AfriDocs in South Africa, FIDADOC in Morocco, the Hot Docs-Blue Ice Docs Fund in Canada, In-Docs in Indonesia, DocedgeKolkata in India, and the Documentary Association of Europe. The IDFA Bertha Fund is also part of a network of co-production funds that includes the Hubert Bals Fund, World Cinema Fund, ACM Distribution, and TorinoFilmLab. These funds consult each other on a regular basis and share experiences on the implementation of the co-production schemes in the Creative Europe program. Every year, the IBF also participates in workshops and festivals all over the world to promote the Fund and IDFA, extend its network, and provide concrete professional support to filmmakers from IBF-focus countries. These trips enable the Fund to add local organizations to its network. In 2023, consultants from the IBF team participated in online and in-person documentary film events in Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Chile, Cuba, Georgia, India, Indonesia, Lebanon, Morocco, Qatar, and South Africa.
