IBF Films at IDFA
2018
In 2018, 10 new documentaries supported by IBF were presented at IDFA and in total 15 new IBF films were presented at IDFA's documentary market Docs for Sale. The IDFA 2018 festival saw a lot of extra attention for IBF-supported films and filmmakers. Kabul, City in the Wind was the opening film of the festival and received the Special Jury Award in the First Appearance Competition. In total, five IBF films celebrated their world premiere at IDFA and all other five had their world premieres at other prestigious film festivals around the world, such as the Cannes Film Festival, the Toronto International Film Festival and the Berlinale. Two IBF-supported documentaries were selected to participate in one of IDFA's competition programs and four IBF documentaries were programmed with a special Doc Talk, an extended discussion after the screening. Besides the regular screenings, IBF documentaries were screened in the special sponsor selections of the VPRO and the Volkskrant and special IDFA programs, such as the Best of IDFA.
